Mugging

They're crossing the campus one night, arms full of books from the library, when a guy with a ski mask on steps out of the shadows, brandishing a knife like he knows how to use it, and asks for their wallets. Bernard starts fumbling for his, a task which is complicated by the fact that his stack of books is less of a stack and more of a juggling act. And then Tim throws his painfully-straightened, alphabetized-by-author stack of books in the mugger's face and springs at him. In the blink of an eye, the mugger is disarmed and unconscious on the ground. And then Tim has his shirt off and is using it to tie the mugger's hands together like he's done it before and Bernard can see how many scars he has. And then Tim is calling the police on his cell phone while Bernard just stares. And then Bernard's books slip out of his hands and Tim picks them up, straightens them (of course), and hands them back to Bernard. Bernard thinks he might be in love.
