Tail

"I was tailed," Jason said, amused. "She'll probably get the directional mike set up in another second or so."

They kept the conversation to safe topics. It wasn't hard; Tim had just gotten another book published, and they had all read it, and the twins had been learning to cook from Alfred with excellent results. When the waiter came around, Jason ordered another meal with hot chocolate, saying that someone else was coming soon and that it was cold outside so they'd appreciate the hot chocolate. The waiter walked away, and he said, "Well, Selina? We know you're listening, why don't you do it inside?"

Sheepishly, Selina put away her directional mike and went inside to sit at the table with them. "How long have you known?" she asked.

"Since I left the apartment," Jason said. "You were a bit less than subtle."

"What are you talking about?" she protested. "I was subtle! Nobody else has ever noticed me tailing them."

The Robins exchanged glances and smiles (they knew a few people who had, like Batman and themselves). "Oh please," Jason said. "Even the blind noticed you tailing me." He looked her in the eye, and his glare chilled her to the bone. "Don't do it again."

"I just wanted to know where you go all mysterious-like," she said.

"Now you know," Jason said. "It's nothing that involves you."

"So what are you going to do if I do it again?" she asked.

"Dick is a police officer, and he'll arrest you," Jason said promptly. "There are a more than a few laws you've broken tonight."

"He'd have to catch me first," she said, eyeing the cane.

"It's after dark," Jason pointed out. "If you run, Batman will probably catch you on principle."

"Fine," she said sullenly. "I won't listen to your conversations." She doesn't promise not to follow him, but he hadn't expected her to.
